Diamond Engagement Rings Part One: The Diamond

Diamond Engagement Ring
Asking someone to spend the rest of their life with you is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make. Besides maybe career choice, it will have the greatest impact on your overall happiness of any decision you make. An enormous amount of time and energy has already been spent by this point in your relationship and you’re planning to spend even more time and energy as you grow together. With so much riding on this moment, you’re going to want to make a good impression. This is the first entry in a multi-part series about how to get the most important moment of your life right in one try.

The diamond is the most important part of the ring so I’m going to cover that first. Diamonds are designed to be gorgeous centerpieces that come in a wide variety of shapes and look good on nearly any metal in nearly any configuration. From the classic round to the adorable heart, diamonds are cut to sparkle. Whatever the look of the diamond (or diamonds) the focus should be on finding quality stones that appear to be well cut, clear and that shine brightly. Be sure to inspect the diamond for any flaws or specks. Take your time to compare high quality diamonds and low quality diamonds. Know what you’re looking for. It’s okay to become a bit of an expert to get it right. It’s worth it.Diamond Engagement Ring

The next thing to decide is the size. This is a bit more complicated than choosing the largest diamond you can find within your budget. You can make compromises on quality for size. Alternatively, you can set smaller diamonds next to a larger one. You can choose a shape with a larger table size (top surface) like an emerald cut. A small diamond that is cut properly and shines brightly will look more impressive than a large dull rock. You should consider also, the possibility that a large diamond might simply be impractical.
