The Future of Diamond Engagement Rings

diamond engagement ring
I am seeing a new trend in Engagement Rings. The old diamond and gold ring is slowly shifting to colored stones and contemporary metals. Even if brides are still getting colored diamonds, they may choose one that is pink, chocolate or yellow.

After Princess Kate showed the world her ring, even other stones, never before used as the main stone, are becoming popular. Her sapphire ring with diamond halo is one of the most copied rings in the past few years. I have seen rubies, and sapphires as the main stone in engagement rings, but I try to avoid supporting an Emerald, as it is not durable for everyday wear. Three Stone Rings are very popular rings to use diamond alternatives in, as well as using a diamond for one or both of the other stones. With these options, you can still keep the diamond tradition, yet have a modern look as well. You may even choose no diamonds and have a colored stone solitaire!

One of my favorite metals that is trending is Palladium. It is a wonderful alternative to white gold, as it is a beautiful silvery color without the rhodium plating you get to create white gold. It is hypo allergenic and is as durable as gold. I think it is worth the extra price in the long run, as it does cost more than gold.

I love helping any couple find the perfect rings, but when we design one together that breaks tradition, it gets really exciting! I can’t wait to see that the future brings in Diamond Engagement Rings to start designing new looks for my brides.
